Viktorija speaks about the forgotten history of socialist women’s involvement in enhancing women’s lives globally and touches upon implications of such amnesia by giving examples of her own research and activism.

Viktorija Kolbešnikova is currently a youth worker in an open youth center in Kaunas, Lithuania.
She holds an MA degree in European Master in Women’s and Gender History (Central European University, Budapest). Her BA degree is in history with joint studies in philosophy from Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas. Her research interests are feminist discourse analysis, media studies with a focus on Lithuanian Soviet women’s magazine “Tarybinė moteris” (Soviet Woman) also politics of care and radical youth work.
Viktorija was organizer of the “Eastern European Feminist Gathering” (2018) and that of the international conference “Gender struggle in Eastern Europe. Legacy of the Socialist Past and Contemporary Issues” (Kaunas, 2019). She is also a member of the editorial board of critical media platform Gyvenimas per Brangus (“Life is too Dear”) and a board member of May 1st Labor Union.
