No Romo – On love beyond romance (en)
Elliot Blue is an interdisciplinary artist, who focuses mainly on film making and lighting design. The common point in all of Elliot’s artistic practice is telling stories and even more so, asking questions ; questions about how society is built and how we position ourselves in it, how we reproduce and how we challenge those structures and what a world would look like, in which we all equally fit in. Elliot has co-created two online film screening platforms: Afrofilm, celebrating Black Filmmakers and the Trans* Teen Film Festival uplifting teens who are inter*, two-spirit or under the trans* umbrella. Furthermore four of their films “The Shore”, “Black is me”, “Home?” and “No Romo” have been on film festivals around the world and since 2016, Elliot also gives film workshops for people of all ages, preferably to those experiencing societal marginalization. Elliot is convinced that considering the current mainstream media, telling one’s own perspective as a marginalized person is an act of resistance and a key to self-empowerment and self-determination.
